19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
